Within the Village of Great Neck is a flood prone area.  "CLICK HERE" to view the Flood Prone Area map.  A more detailed Flood Prone Area map can be seen in the Village of Great Neck Building Department.  Sub surface basements and cellars are not permitted within the Flood Prone Area.  In addition the Flood Prone Area is known to have poor drainage capability due to the presence of clay soils.  Anyone considering new construction or additions within or immediately adjacent to the Flood Prone Area is advised to retain a qualified soils engineer prior to any planning, design and construction.
